The Barchester Ashford Care home
Providing a beautiful connection between the community and the residents of this carehome since June 2020 when we began with our amazing photobooks. April 2021 saw families creating gorgeous hanging baskets and May 2021 was the beginning of the letter writing club between schools and the home. Following on from these events, we continue to hold and enjoy craft tables at Summer and Christmas fares at the Barchester Care Home.
This fantastic facility openly welcomes our voluntary cricket Activators to keep Stanwell children active as All Stars (5-8 years) and Dynamos (9-12 years) cricket players.
We have held many amazing events at the Stanwell Rose Community Centre: Reptile Encounters, Dance workshops, Diwali and Festival of Lights Events to name a few.
We partner with the Footsteps4Life Team to provide healthy activities for the children at Saturday Play dates in the Youth Centre, or cooking classes and multi sports run from the Family Centre.
We are delighted to be able to open up the doors to the Stanwell Family Centre in the weekends. The centre houses a beautiful garden with a Pirate ship play area, mud kitchen, sand pit, outdoor ride on toys, to name a few. The centre also has an amazing indoor space to keep the children entertained with crafts, dress up, Lego or Duplo activities and its especially perfect for movie afternoons.
The Phoenix Project was set up in 1999 to provide opportunities for young people in a range of areas from physical activities, volunteering skill development and camping. These are all accredited under the Duke of Edinburgh Award or Youth Achievement Awards.
We are pleased to be able to offer voluntary hours in the Stanwell Community allotment and during school holidays or Saturday playdates where the extra volunteer hands are invaluable.
Stanwell Youth Centre
The Youth Centre on Hadrian Way is a lovely space for children aged 7+ on a Saturday playdate. There will always be craft available, an opportunity to socialise inside and a sport of some sort in the tennis courts.
Our arty Stanwell adult residents have learnt to mosaic, make cards, build lanterns and paint their own pictures thanks to some wonderful partners.
We have had incredible bug hunts, shelter building and bat walks - including an overnight stay at Bedfont lakes in the Summers of 2019 and 2021. We love working with the Rangers at Bedfont lakes and their activities fit so well into our main priorities for our Stanwell families.
Learning about the amazing green spaces around us, bugs and insects and their habitats with the Biodiversity Team.
Our local schools provide a link between ourselves and their pupils to ensure everyone knows of our amazing list of activities.
